Avg Antivirus (Free) Reviews
AVG AntiVirus Free has a new look, and some new technology, but our hands-on tests and independent lab tests show that it’s just as reliable as ever.
AVG AntiVirus Free has a new look, and some new technology, but our hands-on tests and independent lab tests show that it’s just as reliable as ever. AVG AntiVirus Free (2017) looks very different from the previous edition, which focused on colored circles representing security status. The items in the greyed out Full Protection panel become available when you upgrade to AVG’s non-free security suite.
The AVG Zen tool manages all of your AVG installations across all of your devices. A full circle in a panel means all related components are installed. The circle’s color reflects the status of installed components. If you just click the big Scan Computer button on the main window, you’ll get what’s called a Full Computer Scan. But if what you really want is the most thorough scan for malware, you should choose Deep Virus Scan.
The Full Computer Scan checks the most likely areas for malware, but also scans for things like outdated software, Registry problems, and junk files. If you want to remedy found problems, you must install a one-day trial of AVG PC TuneUp.
