Balak Meher |
Sahavasees who attended the Hindi Section's Sahavas at Meherabad in 1958 observed a young sadhu seated on the dais beside Avatar Meher Baba. The young man's name was "Balak Meher" although he had only recently adopted the name. Formerly he had been called "Balak Bhagwan" (Balak who is God) which, in the current context, was perhaps a bit much, so he had changed his name. Amiya explained that Balak Meher told him that as a child he had had the experience that "Vishnu entered me" and from that time forth Balak Meher was able to perform miracles, and had powers ("Siddhis"). Ordinarily these powers come to those who perform tantrik rites and they come in the form of major and minor powers. Amiya knows more about this, but it is not the focus of Baba's people to pay much attention to powers, so he didn't talk too much about it. Amiya did say that the minor siddhis include seeing events afar, hearing things spoken at some distance, and so forth. Baba, according to Amiya, had given the young Balak Meher (Amiya thinks Balak Meher might have been 17 years old at this time) three orders. Balak Meher had already broken two of the orders. He had entered the women's pandal (order number one being not to go into the women's pandal) and he had given some attendee at the sahavas a mantra (order number two having been not to act the role of master at the sahavas). If you have been following this thread (from the story of Mangalananda) then you know that at the sahavas Balak Meher had just broken the third order, which was not to use any of his occult powers while at the sahavas. Baba became annoyed at this moment, and Amiya saw Baba grind His big toe into the ground and pronounce, "Now all your siddhis are under my big toe, and you will not get them back until you are 34 years old, and when you do get them back, you will not want to use them." |
