Dear Matajee,

Baba knows that you and Amiya have very great love for Him. Therefore Baba is very much pleased with you and Amiya. Baba is also full well knowing that you both would even sacrifice your lives in order to obey Him. Therefore, Baba gives you and Amiya this order, that you both maintain a loving and peaceful atmosphere at home, and in that atmosphere try to feel Baba's presence all the time.

So, Baba wants you to embrace Gauri with love. The moment you receive this letter please do it, and clean your hearts towards each other. Gauri should behave toward you as toward her mother, and you should behave with her as though she is your daughter. The heart of a mother is quite large and if there are any mistakes committed by the daughter, it becomes the mother to forgive the daughter. If you follow Baba's order wholeheartedly, Baba would be very pleased with you and will give you a special darshan in Poona.

Baba is everything for you. Therefore if you have at all to think about anything, think about Baba and do not get stuck up with any other things and ideas. Baba has such a special love for you, and that's why Baba wants you to live your life totally for Him and try to drown yourself in the ocean of His love.

Baba is pleased with you, and if you and Gauri live together in love, then Baba would become much more pleased. Baba wants in His house there should be a loving atmosphere, and not the atmosphere of dispute. Therefore try to make it your responsibility to maintain a peaceful and loving atmosphere at home. And, Baba gives this duty to you, and wants that this responsibility is carried out by you in a very good way.

Baba sends His love to you, to Amiya, to Gauri and to His dear beautiful doll [Mehernandini -- Amiya and Gauri's first child].

Amiya remarks: "This has been a big source of conflict in my life -- my wife and my mother at odds. I have mentioned that my wife used to beat the child [Mehernandini], who used to be very mischievous and naughty. So I went all the way to Ahmednagar and requested Adi [Adi K. Irani] to get an interview with Baba. My mother was totally against beating of children, and my wife was liberal with her fists. So it was all like that, and I was in between them. Well this was a trivial thing, and God was taking so much interest in it. That is important. It becomes history, in this sense. It might mean a lot to other generations."
